About this holiday
This Fuerteventura holiday brings together the comfort of a beachside stay and the joy of discovering one of the Canary Islands’ most striking landscapes. Your base is the inviting H10 Tindaya hotel in Costa Calma, a popular spot known for its long sandy beaches, warm breezes and relaxed atmosphere. Set right on the shoreline, the hotel offers sea-view terraces, beautiful pools, and direct access to the golden sweep of Sotavento Beach - one of the island’s most celebrated stretches of coast. With its spacious rooms, palm-lined gardens, and excellent facilities, it’s an ideal home for walkers who also enjoy a little sun, comfort and unhurried leisure between outings.
Your first walk covers 4.5 miles along the broad, breathtaking Sotavento coastline, a route defined by brilliant turquoise waters, shifting sandbars and soft dunes sculpted by the trade winds. As you follow the shoreline towards Malnombre, you’ll often see kite surfers dancing across the horizon, adding splashes of colour to the seascape. The gentle nature of this walk makes it a lovely introduction to Fuerteventura’s coastal charms, with plenty of time to pause, breathe in the salty air and admire the island’s wide-open views.
The second outing offers a deeper look at Fuerteventura’s wilder character. This 5.2-mile journey crosses the Costa Calma Natural Park, a volcanic landscape of rolling hills, earthy tones and long, open valleys. Starting on the eastern side of the island, you’ll gradually make your way west, eventually reaching the dramatic cliffs of La Pared. Here, powerful Atlantic waves crash against the shoreline, revealing a rugged, untamed contrast to the peaceful beaches you’ve seen earlier in the trip. It’s a walk that highlights just how varied Fuerteventura’s scenery can be - from ancient lava fields to soaring coastal viewpoints.
On your final walking day, you’ll experience two shorter but equally rewarding trails. The first is a gentle 3-mile descent through the tranquil La Peña Ravine, beginning in the traditional village of Vega de Río Palma. Surrounded by greenery, palms and quiet valley walls, this walk offers a softer, more sheltered side of the island. Later, a 2.5-mile coastal walk from the fishing village of Ajuy takes you along black-sand shores to impressive ancient sea caves and the striking El Jurado rock arch - one of Fuerteventura’s most memorable natural formations.
Across the holiday, each walk reveals a new layer of Fuerteventura’s beauty, from peaceful inland valleys to dramatic ocean cliffs. Whether you seek relaxation, gentle adventure or a blend of both, this trip offers a wonderfully balanced experience of island life.
