Walking With Purpose: Involved Holidays Takes On A Marathon Challenge
On Friday 15th May 2026, the Involved Holidays team took on a challenge closer to home – a 26.2-mile charity walk around Rutland Water in aid of LOROS Hospice, one of Leicestershire and Rutland’s most vital charities. Setting off at 8am from Oakham in Rutland, we followed the scenic Rutland Water circuit – one of the most beautiful walking routes in the East Midlands – completing the full marathon distance in support of the incredible care LOROS provides to terminally ill patients and their families across the region.
Why We Chose LOROS
LOROS Hospice provides compassionate, specialist care and support for terminally ill patients, as well as their families and carers, across Leicestershire and Rutland. The charity relies heavily on fundraising to continue delivering the vital services it offers to the local community – services that make an immeasurable difference to people during the most difficult times of their lives.
For a team that spends its days helping people discover the joy of the outdoors and the world beyond their doorstep, supporting LOROS felt like a meaningful and fitting cause. Taking on this marathon walk was our way of giving something back.
How the Day Unfolded
The miles were certainly kinder in the morning. With spirits high and the sun on our backs as we set off around the water’s edge, the first half of the route passed with plenty of chat, encouragement, and the odd blister forming. By the second half, the reality of 26.2 miles was making itself felt – but with every step dedicated to LOROS, the team kept moving.
What carried everyone through was exactly what you find on any great walking holiday: fresh air, stunning scenery, good company, and the knowledge that putting one foot in front of the other is always worth it in the end.
We are incredibly proud of every single member of the team for completing the challenge.

A Huge Thank You
We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who supported us, donated, and cheered us on throughout the day. Every pound raised goes directly to LOROS and the life-changing care they provide.
