Walking & Birdwatching in Menorca

Discover birdwatching in Menorca across wetlands forests and salt pans, spotting resident and migrating species. Stay near Son Bou beach.

Looking for a walking and birdwatching holiday in Menorca?

Menorca’s remarkable mix of landscapes, from fragrant pine forests and deep limestone gorges to peaceful rural farmland, thriving wetlands, and salt marshes, creates an exceptional haven for birdlife. Its unique position between Africa and Europe places the island right on a key migration route for birds, making it one of the most rewarding spots in the Mediterranean for both seasoned birders and those simply curious to learn more.

Across these varied habitats, you’ll encounter an impressive range of resident and migratory species, many of which pause on the island during their long journeys. During your holiday, you’ll explore some of Menorca’s most treasured birdwatching areas, including s’Albufera des Grau Natural Park - a vital freshwater lagoon at the heart of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve - as well as the striking landscapes around Favàritx and the Addaia Salt Pans, where the interplay of light, water and wildlife creates a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere.

Your base for the week is the welcoming Valentin Son Bou, set close to the island’s longest sandy beach. The hotel offers spacious, comfortable rooms and plenty of spots to unwind, whether you prefer a dip in the indoor or outdoor pools, a gentle stretch in the fitness area, or simply relaxing in the quiet gardens. It’s an ideal retreat after a day’s gentle walking and wildlife spotting, giving you the perfect balance of comfort, nature, and scenic exploration.
