Itinerary
Day One – Arrival Day
On arrival at Faro Airport, you will be transferred to the 4-star hotel Vila Gale Tavira for 7 nights half board accommodation
Day Two – Walk 1 – Fuseta to Olhao- Ria Formosa Natural Park
Today’s walk begins in the coastal village of Fuseta, where fishing boats gently rock in the harbour and the scent of the sea fills the air. From there, the trail heads east through the heart of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, a peaceful landscape of salt marshes, mudflats, and lagoons. Along the way, you’ll pass traditional salt pans where white salt crystals dry in the sun and birds gather in the shallow waters—keep an eye out for flamingos, egrets, and spoonbills. The route leads to Praia dos Cavacos, a quiet stretch of sand and water, ideal for a short break, before continuing toward Quinta do Marim, an area of pine forest, watermills, old tidal tanks, and secluded lagoon paths. This flat, easy walk is perfect for taking your time and soaking in the natural surroundings, where locals still gather shellfish and fish, reflecting the region’s strong connection to the sea. The walk ends near the town of Olhão, where you can unwind with a snack or cold drink by the waterfront and, if you wish, finish the day with a short boat trip to one of the barrier islands—once home to fishing families and now a serene spot for swimming, walking the dunes, or simply enjoying the tranquil island atmosphere. 7 Miles mostly flat.
Day Three – Free Day
Free day in resort to explore or relax at your pleasure.
Day Four – Walk 2 – Fonte Nova da Mesquita (São Brás)
Today’s circular walk starts at Fonte Nova da Mesquita and covers about 6 miles with gentle climbs of around 70 meters, taking you through a lush, fertile area typical of the Barrocal region. Along the route, you’ll pass through orchards, vegetable gardens, olive groves, and many carob and cork oak trees – São Brás de Alportel is known as the cork capital of the Algarve, and this walk highlights why. Midway, the small village of Desbarato offers a chance to pause and enjoy views of the Serra do Caldeirão hills. Near the end, you’ll see an old watermill that was once used to grind grain. After your walk, head into São Brás for a relaxing snack and, if you like, visit the Museum of Traditional Costumes, located in a 19th-century manor that once belonged to a wealthy cork merchant. The museum, which showcases traditional clothing, agricultural tools, and folk art, has a small entrance fee, and there’s also an optional cork factory visit nearby that requires an additional cost. 6 Miles 70m ascent.

Along the way, you’ll enjoy wonderful views of the Odeleite Dam and the river flowing below. About halfway, you’ll reach Portela Alta de Cima, a perfect spot to stop, catch your breath, and take in the beautiful scenery. The trail then loops back to Odeleite, where you can relax and enjoy a well-deserved snack in one of the village’s cozy cafés. It’s a great way to spend a day outdoors, soaking up the peace and charm of the countryside. 7.5 Miles, mostly flat.
