Last week, our managing director, Steve, and Emily from our office went on a trip to the beautiful Catalonia!
We were lucky enough to be joined by our wonderful local walking guide, José. His passion for the region, insider knowledge and warm humour brought the history and culture of Catalonia to life, making every step of our walks even more enjoyable. The warm Mediterranean sunshine and gentle coastal breezes created the perfect walking climate – not too hot, not too cool – so we could really take our time and soak up the scenic views.
From our base in the peaceful seaside resort of Coma-Ruga, we set out to explore some of the area’s most scenic and historic highlights. We followed winding coastal paths from the Mora watchtower to Tamarit Castle, uncovered the stories behind Alafulla’s enchanting ‘witches village,’ and stepped back in time at the beautifully preserved Roman villa of Els Munts. Along the way, the sparkling sea on one side and rolling green hills on the other made for truly breathtaking scenery.
Our explorations also led us to the lively town of Torredembarra, where we enjoyed a delicious tapas stop full of local flavours, and to the picturesque village of L’Espluga, a gateway to the charming medieval town of Montblanc. Each place offered a new taste of Catalonia’s character – from rustic stone streets and Roman ruins to golden beaches and hidden coves.
Back at our hotel, the comforts were just as delightful as the walks. Guests enjoyed clean, modern rooms and plenty of time to relax in the free spa, open daily from 10am until 8pm. The real highlight, however, was the rooftop adults-only pool, where we could unwind with a cooling swim while gazing out over sweeping coastal views. After days filled with sunshine, walking, history and delicious food, it was the perfect way to relax.
