Whether you’re travelling on your own, as part of a couple, or a walking group, the Involved Holidays team have put together a few frequently asked questions to put your mind at ease. We’re always available for a chat, so if you still have any queries, feel free to call us.

1. How fit do you need to be to go on a walking holiday?
Our walking holidays have been designed to offer the perfect balance between walking and relaxation. It is a holiday after all!
Our general rule of thumb is, as long as you can comfortably climb over a country stile and feel at ease walking up to 8/10 miles in one day, our holidays will be suitable for you.
If you have questions or queries regarding the length or terrain on any of the walks, please feel free to contact our helpful team, who will answer any concerns you may have.

2. Do you have to be part of a walking group?
Our walks are designed for everyone, whether you are travelling alone, in a couple, or part of a larger group.
Travelling alone – Many of our customers prefer to travel solo. Look out for specific dates where we are able to offer no single supplements and save on your next walking holiday with us.
Group Travel – If you are travelling as part of a larger group, feel free to contact our sales team who can make the process easier for you and your group. Whether you are looking for a specific date or destination, we can offer our existing tours or look at bespoke requests for larger groups. With dedicated webpages, marketing materials and easy payment options, we can take the stress out of your next group walking holiday.

3. Do we walk every day?
The short answer is no. We alternate our included walks to provide you with the opportunity to take a rest day and explore your holiday destination at your own leisure.
On some holidays your local walking guide may offer an additional optional walk. This will depend on a number of factors and will be made available when you are on the trip, if this is possible.
Likewise, if you feel like you don’t wish to go on all the walks, simply let the guide know in advance, it is your holiday after all!

4. Are the flights included?
We include all flights in our prices, so you don’t have to worry about a thing. We will even check you in beforehand where we can, to make it as stress free as possible.
We look to fly from mainly regional airports to make it that little bit easier to get to your destination, with as little fuss as possible.
From time to time you may find that some of your favourite destinations aren’t flying from your local regional airport, this is due to airline availability during certain times of the year. If this is an issue please contact our sales team, who may be able to find an alternative for you.

5. Are the transfers included?
We include all transfers to and from your destination airport to your hotel, so you don’t have to worry about finding a taxi or making your way after your flight.
A representative/driver will be on hand at the airport with an Involved Holidays sign upon your arrival.
Where possible you will only be waiting a maximum of 30-60 minutes for your transfer to depart from the airport to your hotel, with all our regional flights arriving as close together as possible.

6. Can I change my mind about walking when on holiday?
Of course, it’s your holiday! If you decide that you don’t wish to go on a certain walk, simply let the walking guide know in advance.
If you are on one of our select walking/escorted holiday dates and are looking to go on the excursion instead of the walking element of your holiday, please check with your walking guide beforehand whilst on holiday. They will try to accommodate any requests where possible, but sometimes this may not be available due to transportation numbers or ticketing for the excursions. This is always to the discretion of the walking guide or local representative.

7. What walking equipment do I need to take with me?
The most essential equipment for a walking holiday unsurprisingly is footwear.
Strong walking shoes or boots which provide good support and have sturdy soles with ample tread and grip for varying terrains are the ideal choice of footwear.
Foldable hiking sticks are great for steeper terrain, but not essential.
A rucksack carrying water, sun lotion, light waterproofs and additional clothing such as an extra pair of socks, will make sure you are prepared for any turns in the weather or unexpected issues.

8. What kind of accommodation is available?
Across our holiday collection we offer a large number of 3 & 4 star rated hotels that we have a fantastic relationship with, having used them over a number of years and visiting them regularly.
If you have any special requests, please make the sales team aware of these when making your booking over the phone, or fill out the special requests box when ordering online. We cannot guarantee all special requests, but will endeavour to fulfil them where possible.
Room upgrades are available at some hotels for an additional fee, this is applicable where stipulated.
